Apollo Wire Products is a leading manufacturer of Galvanized Wire.
Galvanization (the process of applying a protective zinc coating to steel or iron, to prevent rusting) has two types, one is electroplated galvanization and second is hot dip galvanization. hot dip G.I wire has better corrosion resistance properties than electroplated G.I wire.
The length of G.I wire is measured in meters whereas the diameter/thickness is measured in SWG (standard wire gauge). SWG is actually a British standard for measuring the wire thickness. Cross-sectional area in square millimetres is now a more popular size measurement, but we still use SWG for G.I wires in India whereas for cables we use Sq-mm.
Uses of G.I wire:
- Barbed Wire
- Chain Link
- Welded Mesh
- PVC Coated Wire
- Armoring Cable
Types of G.I Wires
Hot Dip Galvanized Wire (G.I.)
Apollo wire products offers Hot Dip G.I. Wires of consistent mechanical properties, uniform zinc coating, bright surface finish.
Zinc Coating is done through Hot Dip Galvanizing process.
0.37 mm to 5.0 mm
IS:280-2006/as per customer
30 to 290 Gms/Sq Mt
Zinc Coating is done through Electro-Chemical Process, also called as Cold Dip Wires. The Zinc Coating varies from 5 -10 gms/sq.mtr.
The tolerance of theses wires is (+1-) 2.5%. The UTS ranges from 300 to 550 Mpa.
